NRM affirms Chinedu Obi, Acting National Chairman, appoints others to fill vacant positions in acting capacity
The National Rescue Movement (NRM) witnesses a turn of event today Monday January 27, 2025 as the National Executive Committee (NEC) affirms Prince Chinedu Obi (Ohamadike) as the Acting National Chairman and appoints other officials to fill the vacant positions.
Those appointed are Barr. Seprebofa M. Oyeghe, Acting Deputy National Legal Adviser; Dr Mustapha Umar Kumshe, Acting National Vice Chairman; Magdalena Samuel Gali, Acting National Organizing Secretary
Also Hon. Musa Salisu Kafisoli,
Acting National Auditor; Hassan Aminu Ibrahim, Acting National Secretary; Chief Sir Victor Iwualla,
Acting National Welfare Secretary; and Omotaiwo Peter Letsuwa
Acting National Publicity Secretary
This was done constitutionally invoking article 11 section 1, subsection ix of the party constitution. Also officials of the National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the well attended NEC meeting According to Barr Obidike Okolo, “this emergency
NEC meeting is one of the most attended NEC meeting with State Chairmen and State Secretaries from total of 33 States with FCT out of 36 States and FCT; as well as all members of the National Executive across the entire country, making it about 95% of all NEC Members in attendance despite the short notice to NEC members and the fact that less than six weeks ago, NEC members also traveled to Abuja from their respective places for verification.”
Part of the event of the NEC meeting was the NMC report that highlights the different illegality, anti-party activities and other gross misconducts of the former National Chairman of the party, Mr. Isaac Udeh, who did not only conduct illegal “Emergency Convention”, but also announced his resignation as the National Chairman of the party on January 17, 2025 at the illegal convention.
Also Barr Okolo revealed that the party Polling Unit officials of Mr. Udeh had invited him to respond to the various allegations of misconduct, which he failed to do, and the Polling Unit suspended him and communicated that to him in a letter and to the NMC in another letter. And the National Management Committee passed a vote of no confidence on him and duly communicated that to him.
However, to still give him the opportunity for fair hearing, a 5-man committee was set up and given one month to look into all his wrong doing and hear his defense if he has any and make recommendation to the National Executive. Therefore, Isaac Udeh was officially suspended as the principle of justice requires that a person cannot be the judge in his own case.
