JFM to Hon Abaza: No bills, no project, no empowerment in Yola – We will vote you out in 2027

Over a year into his tenure as the House of Representatives member for Yola South, Yola North, and Girei Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Babazango (Abaza) is facing mounting criticism for what many describe as a dismal performance.

The Jimeta Frontiers Movement (JFM), a prominent community advocacy group, has publicly called out the lawmaker, accusing him of abandoning his constituents while prioritizing personal business interests over public service.

In a fiery press conference held in Yola on Wednesday, JFM President Comrade Danladi Isa Adamu Jikanshi minced no words, labeling Abaza’s representation as a “total failure” and a “zero impact” on the cosmopolitan region.

The group highlighted the stark contrast between Abaza’s tenure and that of his predecessors, including Barr. Garba Lawan, Hajiya Aishatu Dahiru Binani, and Hon. Abba Girei, who Abaza unseated through a controversial court ruling in October 2023.

“Since he took the mantle of leadership from Abba Girei via the court process, there’s nothing tangible on the ground,” Jikanshi declared.

“Abaza has been silent both with bills and constituency projects, including employment opportunities—things that were the norm under previous representatives. It’s unfortunate the court decided otherwise against Abba Girei, but honestly, by all standards, past lawmakers outshine him.”

Jikanshi alleged that Abaza, a known businessman, has been more focused on expanding his international business empire, particularly in the export of essential products, than serving the people who elected him.

“He forgets about his constituents, busy building his wealth while we languish without representation,” he charged. The group issued a stern warning, urging Abaza to “sit up and do the needful” or face the consequences of public discontent.

The JFM’s critique paints a grim picture of a lawmaker whose tenure has left the vibrant and deserving communities of Yola North, Yola South, and Girei disillusioned. These areas, among the most cosmopolitan in Adamawa State, have historically relied on robust representation in the National Assembly to address their unique needs.

Yet, under Abaza, the group claims, there has been little to show in terms of legislative influence, infrastructure projects, or job creation—hallmarks of effective leadership demonstrated by his predecessors.

“It’s a disappointment to the people of this constituency,” Jikanshi emphasized. “We are comforted by the fact that 2027 is just around the corner. The people will decide against Babazango and vote for a credible, selfless individual who truly cares about the masses.”

The downfall of Abaza’s leadership has sparked widespread frustration, with JFM arguing that the constituency deserves far better than what they currently endure.

As the clock ticks toward the next election cycle, the group’s call to action signals a growing resolve among constituents to reclaim their voice and demand representation that matches the stature of their region.

For now, Abaza’s silence in the face of these accusations only deepens the narrative of a lawmaker whose priorities lie far from the people he swore to serve.
