As part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and support local farmers, the Member representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Saleh Zock, on Thursday flagged off the distribution of 12 trucks of fertilizer across all wards in his constituency.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held in Sabon Sarki, Zock emphasized the importance of timely support for farmers to ensure a successful planting season.
“Farmers are in dire need of inputs this season to ensure good yields. This intervention is aimed at empowering them to achieve that goal,” he said.
The lawmaker, who received commendations from constituents, also announced plans for additional interventions, including a ₦200 million empowerment fund for youth and women, ₦100 million for religious leaders, an undisclosed amount for traditional rulers, and a scholarship scheme for 1,000 students.
Zock expressed confidence that the early distribution of fertilizer would result in a bumper harvest and pledged that the initiative would be sustained annually for as long as he remains in office.
The distribution exercise began with the symbolic handover of fertilizer to representatives of farmers’ unions, religious organizations, and traditional institutions. He charged the distribution committee to ensure that the fertilizer reaches the intended beneficiaries without delay.
