“Ka’abah has no spiritual purpose” Islamic Group Slams Atiku’s aide over statement

Islamic Faith based group under umbrella of Muslim Youth Forum(MYF) has condemned the controversial remarks attributed to Phrank Shaibu, a media aide to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, concerning the spiritual significance of the Ka’abah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The group described the remarks, reportedly made during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, as insensitive, reckless ,inappropriate and capable of offending the religious sensibilities of millions of Muslims across the world.

Shaibu, who serves as Director of Strategic Communications of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, reportedly made the comments on Monday, November 2, 2026, while reacting to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

Reacting to the development, the Forum expressed concern over what it described as an unfortunate attempt to drag a deeply revered Islamic religious institution into partisan political arguments.

It stressed that matters relating to faith and worship should be treated with respect, responsibility and sensitivity, regardless of political differences.

According to a statement signed by its Coordinator, Alhaji Ahmed Shehu Mohammad, the Forum maintained that the Ka’abah occupies a central position in Islam and represents the direction towards which Muslims across the world turn during their daily prayers. It is also the focal point of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.

The group argued that political disagreements should never become an excuse for making statements that could be interpreted as disrespectful to the religious beliefs and sacred institutions of others.

It further maintained that political leaders and their spokespersons have a responsibility to exercise restraint when discussing religious matters, particularly in a religiously diverse country such as Nigeria.

The Forum stressed that Shaibu’s political disagreement with President Tinubu over his recent Umrah pilgrimage should not be allowed to diminish the spiritual significance of the holy site or create unnecessary religious tension.

It also called on political parties and their spokespersons to focus on critical national issues, including governance, economic development, insecurity, poverty and national unity, rather than making comments capable of generating religious controversy.

The group urged Shaibu and other political commentators to demonstrate greater sensitivity and respect when discussing issues concerning Islam and other religious faiths.

The Northern Progressive Forum noted that freedom of expression, which remains fundamental to democratic governance, must be exercised with a sense of responsibility, particularly when comments have the potential to offend the religious convictions of millions of Nigerians.

It called on Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to promote mutual respect, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, warning against allowing political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections to divide the country along religious lines.

The Forum reaffirmed that political criticism is legitimate in a democracy but must never come at the expense of respect for religious beliefs, sacred institutions and the need for peaceful coexistence.

Gov Fintiri: Navigating the Pits,Falls,Gallops and bridges of Adamawa’s unpredictable politics.

Gov Fintiri: Navigating the Pits,Falls,Gallops and bridges of Adamawa’s unpredictable politics.

-The gamble of dumping PDP, Atiku for APC and Tinubu, the hurdle ahead is a big question wether he can break the Jinx of failed handovers

-why 2027 is all eyes on Adamawa as Fintiri vows Tinubu must win, Atiku vows revenge

By Tom Garba

To understand Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, you must first understand Adamawa, a state with a unique political history. Hardly can any Governor successfully hand over power without a political uprising.
The history is there: Boni Haruna could not hand over to Murtala Nyako because of deep crisis; only his deputy, Senator Bello Tukur, handed over. Admiral Murtala Nyako himself, a former Naval Chief, was literally impeached in a dramatic fashion. Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow faced a gang-up of internal APC fracas, cabals who collaborated with the opposition to fight him down. The handover to Governor Fintiri in 2019 was carried out by Engr Martins Babale, his Deputy Governor. Adamawa State does not forgive incumbents easily. It consumes them.
It is in this whirlwind that Fintiri emerged.

Fintiri’s political journey is itself a story of pits and gallops. As Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, he was a young, assertive parliamentarian. When the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako happened in July 2014, Fintiri, by constitutional provision, became Acting Governor. He held the state for about three months, stabilizing a volatile polity.
He tried in 2015 but lost. He galloped back in 2019 and defeated an incumbent Governor, Senator Bindow. That victory was not ordinary. It was against all odds, against federal might. He repeated it in 2023 when Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani gave him the political beating of his life in a highly contested, dramatic election that went into a supplementary poll and a controversial declaration that tested the nation’s democracy. Fintiri held the mandate, which many believed he was holding with all sense of fairness and people’s will.

If Adamawa is judged by physical transformation, Fintiri will be rated high. Very high I must say. His eight years will be remembered for:

The Bridges and Roads Governor- From Yola, JImeta precisely Which the administrative centre stage of leadership to Mubi, Girei to Ganye, Fintiri constructed roads across the 21 Local Government Areas. He broke the jinx of no flyover in Adamawa with mega projects – the first overhead bridge and flyover North East region was constructed in Jimeta. The credit goes to Fintiri, the second flyover at Mubi Roundabout, and several other bridges that have eased traffic and beautified the state

Health and Civil Service Revamp-Building hospitals in some few LGAs, revamping General Hospitals, and most importantly, revamping the civil service sector. He cleared the rot of non-payment, introduced regular payment of salaries, bonuses, Sallah welfare, 13th-month bonuses, and promotion arrears. Civil servants who were demoralized are now motivated. He cleared backlog of pension and gratuities in billions of Naira. A right thinking Man must say a big bravo to this Man called Fintiri.

Mega Projects like the ongoing construction of the International Conference Centre, a world-class project, the modern Shopping Complexes, and massive school construction is another ice that breaks the camel’s back. It has never been in the history of the state since its creation and the defunct Gongola State.

Fintiri’s Wallet of Empowerment is his empowerment program runs into billions of Naira. From Business Wallets for women and youths, to support for SMEs, to poverty alleviation programs that touch the grassroots.

The Cultural Liberator: Perhaps his most daring political and historical decision is the creation of New Emirates and Chiefdoms. By doing this, Fintiri broke generational barriers of subjugation of other ethnic nationalities who had been under one hegemony for over a century. For many minorities, he is a hero who gave them identity and freedom.

THE POLITICAL REALIGNMENT – THE BIGGEST PIT

But leadership is not just about projects. It is about alliances. And here lies Fintiri’s most controversial gallop.

Fintiri left the PDP, the political party that gave him the morsels and cakes, buttered his bread, made him a renowned politician at national level. The party that gave him ticket in 2019 and 2023. More painful to many is his dumping of people like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who stood for him when he needed him most. Atiku was the national pillar behind him during the Binani storm. Today, Atiku is the Presidential Candidate of the ADC, and Fintiri has openly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

For many in Adamawa, especially Atiku’s loyalists, this open endorsement is seen as an insult and a slap. The question being asked in every tea joint from Yola to Mubi is: Why can’t Fintiri stand for Atiku this time around that Atiku needs him most?
His loyalty to the ruling APC has made him break ties with many in the party. Chief Maurice Vunobolki and others are now fighting him tooth and nail to get the seat of power.

THE 2027 HURDLE – CAN HE HANDOVER SUCCESSFULLY?

Fintiri’s ambition of becoming a Senator representing Adamawa Northern Zone is a challenge he must stand strong to win. The zone is heavily contested.
Parties like ADC, PDP, LP are evidently strong and fighting back. They want to get him out of the way.

A raging whirlwind of crisis may engulf the political stage of Adamawa, and Fintiri may be at the center of it. History shows that if the voting pattern follows what it used to be, opposition may win. Adamawa is a funny state where anything can happen. The dynamism, the intrigues, and the political hullabaloo can be very and highly unpredictable.

THE ADVANTAGES HE HOLDS
Yet, Fintiri has advantages no former Governor had:

  1. He is the incumbent Governor.
  2. He is now with the ruling party at the center – the APC.
  3. He controls the state structure.
  4. He has tangible achievements to campaign with.
There are high certainties and assurances that APC may win the election in 2027 because of federal might. But in Adamawa, federal might failed in 2019. It failed in 2023. Will it succeed in 2027?

His recent birthday to Mark his 59th year old has made him a star. Leaders across the countries including the former Vice President Yemi Oshinbonjo was the guest’s speaker and spoke well of him and leadership giant strides he will leave behind as a legacy. The best part of the event I cherish most is the foundation he unveiled to support the less privileged and the downtrodden. It’s a respect for him I kept so dear to my chest. I pray it will outlive him and his generation yet unborn.

ALL EYES ON ADAMAWA
In 2027, it is all eyes on Adamawa State. It is a battle of two vows: Fintiri has vowed to return Tinubu elected, and Atiku has vowed to win elections against all odds in Nigeria, particularly in Adamawa, his home state.
Can Fintiri break the jinx and hand over successfully to his successor? Can he navigate the pits he dug by leaving PDP, the falls from breaking with Atiku, and gallop over the bridges he built?
If he does, he will be the first Governor in recent history to successfully complete two terms and hand over on his own terms in Adamawa’s crisis-ridden politics. If he fails, he will join the list of Governors consumed by Adamawa’s unpredictable political furnace.
The next 4 months will decide.

BEGE JOSEPH GAIYA IS A PERFORMER, NOT AN ENEMY OF DEVELOPMENT

BEGE JOSEPH GAIYA IS A PERFORMER, NOT AN ENEMY OF DEVELOPMENT

The attempt to portray the Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Engr. Bege Joseph Gaiya, as an enemy of development over the Zango Urban bridge controversy is unfortunate and misleading. It is another attempt to turn an administrative issue into a political weapon against a leader committed to peace, fairness and the development of his people.

According to the report, Gideon Jock clarified that he did not undertake any road or bridge construction project but donated ₦1 million towards community efforts to address erosion damage. Engr. Bege’s decision to seek clarification about the purported project, the engineers involved and the necessary approvals from the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA) should not be interpreted as hostility towards development. Rather, it reflects the responsibility of a public official to ensure that interventions involving public infrastructure comply with relevant procedures and safety requirements.

Bege is not opposed to development; he believes development must be properly coordinated and sustainable.

The Chairman has also disclosed that the road was captured in the Kaduna State Government’s rural road transformation plan, while water provision and school-related projects have been earmarked for the area. These commitments demonstrate that the needs of Zango Urban have not been ignored. His performance should be assessed objectively, based on verifiable achievements and the overall development of the local government, rather than a controversy presented through political narratives.

Engr. Bege is a peace-loving leader who understands the importance of dialogue, unity and peaceful coexistence. However, being a peace lover does not mean abandoning administrative responsibilities or ignoring questions of due process. His commitment to peace should be appreciated, not exploited, and his insistence on accountability should not be misconstrued as political persecution.

Development must be above party politics.

The Chairman has a responsibility to serve all residents without discrimination, irrespective of political affiliation.

Rather than inflaming tensions, all stakeholders should work together to ensure that the damaged bridge receives the necessary attention. The ultimate concern should be the safety and welfare of the people, not the political advantage of individuals.

Engr. Bege Joseph Gaiya deserves to be judged by his integrity, performance, fairness and commitment to peace, not by allegations designed to discredit him. Zangon Kataf needs responsible leadership and genuine development, not the politicisation of every administrative decision. Let the facts prevail and allow development to unite the people rather than divide them.

Idris Shuaibu: The APC thunderbolt who never sleeps, his option A and B agenda is Tinubu, Galadima winners of ’27 polls

Idris Shuaibu: The APC thunderbolt who never sleeps, his option A and B agenda is Tinubu, Galadima winners of ’27 polls

-from Adamawa Chairman to North East leader, his resilience is making him the Eagle and the Cheetah, always flies and run for APC Victory

By Tom Garba

In the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), where leadership is measured by results, one young, vibrant leader has stood out as a thunderbolt of promise, energy and victory, Barr. Idris Shuaibu, the North East National Vice Chairman of the APC.

From his days as the Adamawa State Party Chairman to his current national assignment covering six states, Barr. Idris has demonstrated uncommon resilience, hard work, and passion for the growth, stability and cohesion of the party. He is not a leader who talks victory; he works victory.

Since his inception as Adamawa State Chairman, Barr. Idris has been active, focused and relentlessly hardworking. He transformed the APC from an opposition party into a dominant, ruling party in the state. It is to his credit and strategic hard work that today, the Governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri with all his Commissioners and Local Government Chairmen who were in PDP are now in APC. That political realignment did not happen by chance. It happened because Idris consulted wide and close, removed pitfalls, built bridges and provided a seamless political pathway that made the historic defection possible.
He is a builder, not a breaker. A unifier, not a divider.

Barr. Idris Shuaibu is a confidant, a reliable partner and a trusted ally whose message is clear and consistent: For APC, Option A and Option B is WINNING.His supreme agenda is one, to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is returned and APC delivers all candidates in the coming 2027 general elections. He has been saying it everywhere without ambiguity: Tinubu is the party’s agenda, and winning is non-negotiable. He set in another agenda into his political moves to ensure Ahmed Aminu Galadima, the APC Gubernatorial candidate of Adamawa state equally wins alongside all the candidates vying for state, and National seats. As National Vice Chairman, he holds a strong belief and works tirelessly for APC’s overall victory across the six states of the North East Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Bauchi and Gombe.

Idris does not know laziness. He sits not longer, he tarries not, and he does not give laziness a chance when it comes to APC victory. Those who work close to him describe him as a man who flies like the eagle – with high vision to see victory from afar and go after it. He runs like the cheetah – with speed, focus and determination to get the goal against all odds. He does not give the opposition a chance to breathe.

He never gets tired. He never sleeps for leisure. He thinks APC, he dreams APC, he works out his ways for APC day and night.
He rallies round veteran politicians in the North East, consults without borders, moves from state to state, LGA to LGA, finding ways, building structures, displacing opposition through superior strategy, especially in Adamawa, his home state.

At a time when the APC needs youthful energy combined with maturity, Barr. Idris Shuaibu presents both. He is young, but experienced. Vibrant, but wise. Loyal, but strategic.

He is the kind of leader every ruling party prays for – a man whose personal success is tied to the party’s success, whose joy is in seeing APC win all seats, from Presidency to Governorship to National and State Assemblies.

In Barr. Idris Shuaibu, the APC in the North East has found its engine room, its field commander, and its winning formula.

THE MISSING EXPORTS AND HIDDEN ROYALTIES – LITHIUM

THE MISSING EXPORTS AND HIDDEN ROYALTIES – LITHIUM

By Biliyaminu Suraj

biliyasuraj1980@yahoo.com

The Ministry of Solid Minerals has failed to disclose massive export of lithium to China and gold to the UAE and has hidden from the Nigerian public any evidence that royalties on the lithium and gold have been paid. Where are the royalties?

Nigeria does not publish reliable, timely, or detailed mineral export data. The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (MSMD) and the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO) do not publish operator-level royalty or production data disaggregated by mineral type. The Nigerian Export Promotion Council and the Central Bank of Nigeria record mineral export values in aggregate, with significant lags and without the tonne-level detail needed to compute royalty liabilities.

Nigerian Federal Government authorities do not publish any reliable data about the export of lithium despite the continuous hype from Minister Alake about the alleged billions of dollars of foreign investment in lithium production.

Thus, when it comes to knowing how much lithium and gold, Nigeria’s two most important minerals being mined and exported, analysis must rely on mirror data. “Mirror data” refers to trade statistics recorded by the importing country rather than by the exporting nation’s own authorities. The two most significant destinations for Nigeria’s lithium and gold are China and UAE respectively. Both publish data for minerals imported from Nigeria. In this article, we examine Nigeria’s Lithium exports and the royalties that should be generated by these exports.

Lithium Exports and Royalties

Chinese customs data collected by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), as published by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) and Mysteel, covering Nigerian spodumene/lithium ore arrivals in China, provides the only publicly available consistent series that allows an approximate assessment of the scale of Nigerian spodumene exports, and by implication, the royalty liability that should theoretically have been generated and paid to Nigeria. (Spodumene is one of the main raw ores or minerals from which lithium is extracted).

A compilation of data published by Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) and Mysteel, covering Nigerian spodumene/lithium ore arrivals in China reveals that in 2024 Chinese Customs recorded imports of approx. 450,000t of Spodumene from Nigeria. At a royalty rate of N9,500/t the royalty due to the Nigerian Government was N4.3 billion (see Table 1).

In 2025 Chinese Customs recorded imports of approx. 1.2Mt of Spodumene from Nigeria. Using the same royalty rate of N9,500/t the royalty due to the Nigerian Government was N11.4 billion.

2026 is on track to be on par with 2025 with royalties accumulating to the Nigerian Government of more than N11 billion.

Implied Scale of Undisclosed Exports and Royalty Payments.

A full-year 2025 estimate of approximately 1.1–1.2 million tonnes of Spodumene arriving in China from Nigeria, combined with whatever volumes were exported to other destinations (India, Europe, Japan) or processed domestically, implies a Nigerian spodumene production base significantly larger than anything disclosed in Nigeria’s Solid Minerals Ministry data. The March 2025 reporting period of the Mining Cadastre Office does not identify Nigerian Spodumene production at any volume close to these levels.

The gap between the figures from Chinese customs arrivals of lithium from Nigeria and Nigerian official production data gives rise to serious questions not only about the level of Spodumene production but also about the flow of royalties.

Were the royalties not paid by the Chinese? If the royalties were not paid it seems unlikely the Chinese authorities would publish the import data and thus bring attention to the issue of unpaid royalties.

Companies in Nigeria are now paying all mining royalties directly to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS). All royalty payments began flowing to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) on 1 January 2026. This is the official commencement date of the new royalty collection regime. Before 1 January 2026, all mining royalty payments in Nigeria were made to the Ministry of Solid Minerals (formerly the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development).

So, assuming the Chinese paid the lithium royalties in 2024 and 2025 to the Ministry of Solid Minerals, why aren’t they shown? More importantly … did the royalties actually reach the Ministry of Solid Minerals own Treasury Single Account (TSA) sub accounts at the Central Bank of Nigeria?

To date we have evidence published by Chinese authorities of the import of approximately 2 million tonnes of lithium from Nigeria. However, there is no evidence published by Nigerian authorities of royalties being paid.

Where are the missing royalties?

If lithium mining companies are not paying royalties, then they are likely not paying taxes. What is the benefit to the nation of the billions of dollars that Minister Alake alleges has been invested in the solid minerals sector if corporate taxes and royalties are not being paid?

ECN DG, Abdullahi, Records 38 Milestones in Three Years,.

ECN DG, Abdullahi, Records 38 Milestones in Three Years,.

Appreciates President Tinubu’s Support.

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has recorded 38 milestones in three years, with major strides in renewable energy development, solar power deployment, clean cooking, hydrogen technology and local energy manufacturing.

The achievements, which underscore the Commission’s drive to reposition Nigeria’s energy sector, include the gazetting of the National Energy Policy and National Energy Master Plan, solarisation of healthcare and educational facilities, expansion of mini-grids and strategic international partnerships.

Abdullahi disclosed this as staff members, directors and management of the Commission celebrated his third anniversary in office at the ECN headquarters, acknowledging progress in the agency’s mandate, staff welfare and institutional development.

The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the Commission’s achievements under his leadership and renew its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

Among the landmark initiatives highlighted by the Director-General is the establishment of Africa’s first Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Osara, Kogi State, an intervention aimed at strengthening practical skills development and building local capacity for renewable energy deployment.

The Commission has also pursued solarisation projects in healthcare and educational facilities, expanded efforts to promote mini-grids and advanced initiatives in clean cooking and hydrogen development.

These interventions, alongside efforts to boost local energy manufacturing and deepen international cooperation, are designed to translate national energy policies into practical solutions that improve electricity access, empower communities and support sustainable economic growth.

Speaking during the anniversary event, Abdullahi expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and support under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also acknowledged the strategic guidance and partnership of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, in driving the country’s energy transformation.

The ECN boss said the milestones recorded over the past three years reflected the collective commitment of the Commission’s management and staff to delivering on its mandate and strengthening Nigeria’s energy future.

He equally highlighted improvements in staff welfare, conditions of service and internal infrastructure, describing them as important components of efforts to build a more effective and productive institution.

Abdullahi, who was visibly touched by the surprise reception organised in his honour, thanked staff members for the goodwill, accolades, kind words and gifts presented to mark the anniversary.

He said the gesture demonstrated a shared commitment to the Commission’s vision and responsibilities.

Despite the progress recorded, the Director-General maintained that more work remained to be done, pledging to consolidate existing achievements, improve staff welfare and intensify efforts to advance clean energy innovation.

He reaffirmed his commitment to positioning Nigeria as a leading force in renewable energy innovation and sustainable development, stressing the need to transform policies and technological advances into solutions that directly benefit Nigerians.

The ECN’s three-year milestone comes amid increasing national attention to renewable energy as a pathway to expanding electricity access, reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and supporting sustainable development.

With its focus on solarisation, mini-grid expansion, skills development and strategic partnerships, the Commission is seeking to strengthen the role of clean energy in Nigeria’s broader development agenda.

Fresh Legal Battle Rocks PRP as Faction Asks Court to Remove Donald Duke, Baba-Ahmed

A faction of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), operating under the Akida-Left Faction, has instituted a suit at the Federal High Court seeking the removal of former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, as the party’s purported presidential candidate, and Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as its National Chairman.

The suit, marked FHC/L/CS/444/2026, was filed on October 20, 2026, according to a press statement issued by the Convergence for a Working People’s Political Alternative (COPA) and dated October 21.

COPA, which described the PRP Akida-Left Faction as one of its affiliates, said the action was instituted against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mallam Falalu Bello, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and Donald Duke over the disputed leadership and presidential candidacy of the party.

In the statement signed by Ayódele Ademiluyi, Lead Counsel to the faction and Co-Chairperson of COPA, the plaintiffs are seeking an order directing INEC to remove Duke’s name from its records as the PRP presidential candidate and replace it with that of Dr. Salih, whom the faction described as a long-standing revolutionary socialist and the party’s valid presidential candidate.

The plaintiffs are also asking the court to direct INEC to remove Baba-Ahmed’s name from its portal as the party’s National Chairman.

They are seeking an order recognising Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu as the duly elected National Chairman of the PRP, arguing that the process that produced Baba-Ahmed was illegal.

The suit comes amid a protracted dispute over the leadership and candidate selection process within the PRP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC’s official website currently lists Baba-Ahmed as the party’s National Chairman, while the commission’s records also reflect the leadership structure associated with his faction.

In a separate legal development, the Federal High Court in Abuja had, on September 30, dismissed an earlier suit challenging Duke’s emergence as the PRP presidential candidate.

The earlier case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1234/2026, was filed by an aggrieved party aspirant, Yakubu Kingsley, who questioned the validity of Duke’s nomination.

Justice Mohammed Umar dismissed the suit, holding that it was statute-barred because it was filed outside the constitutionally prescribed period for pre-election matters. The court also ruled that the plaintiff had failed to establish his claims on the merits.

However, the latest action, according to COPA, raises further questions over the party’s leadership and the recognition of its presidential candidate.

Abba Girei And The Battle To Break Atiku’s Home Advantage In Adamawa

Abba Girei And The Battle To Break Atiku’s Home Advantage In Adamawa

…Girei Is Building APC’s 226-Ward Machine, to give huge gap against opposition In Adamawa

By Tom Garba

By any objective political measurement in Adamawa State, the 2027 presidential contest will be a battle of home advantage versus federal structure. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, now the presidential candidate of the ADC, enjoys an ancestral and emotional hold on Adamawa. To break that hold requires more than slogans – it requires a grassroots machine. That is where Hon. Salihu Mohammed, popularly known as Abba Girei, enters the equation.

The Renewed Hope Coordinator As A Political Machine

Abba Girei is the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the All Progressives Congress, APC. A businessman and former member of the House of Representatives for Yola South, Yola North and Girei Federal Constituency, he brings to the assignment a wealth of grassroots politicking, gimmicks and schemes that define Adamawa politics.

His removal from the Green Chamber over what his supporters describe as a flimsy court-sponsored agenda by political opponents did not diminish his political capital. If anything, it amplified it. Till date, political observers in the constituency argue that his absence has created a vacuum his successor has not been able to fill in terms of presence, empowerment and impact.

The 226-Ward Structure

What makes Abba Girei different is not just mobilization, but micro-management of the political space.

Sources close to his camp reveal a deliberate structure that targets all 226 wards in Adamawa State, with each polling unit to be manned by APC staunch loyalists. It is a 24/7 political operation designed to woo voters, sway undecideds and convert Atiku loyalists in his own backyard.

In a state where elections are won at the unit level, this ward-to-unit penetration is critical. Abba Girei’s network, built during his time in the House and sustained through business and philanthropic ties across the three LGAs of his former constituency, gives him reach across Central Adamawa – the most contested senatorial zone in the state.

Why Tinubu’s Path Looks Nearer

Abba Girei’s political strength lies in three factors:

  1. Grassroots Recall: He is remembered as a representative who did well for Yola South, Yola North and Girei, which gives him credibility when he canvasses.
  2. Sagacity and Strategy: He operates as a political tactician who understands both elite alignment and street-level mobilization.
  3. Loyalty Network: He has knitted together support, loyalty and goodwill for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu among diverse stakeholders, making the Renewed Hope agenda a mobilizer machine rather than just a slogan.

With operators like him holding the helms of affairs for the APC in Adamawa, Tinubu’s victory is looking more certain than it was months ago, with the potential to create a huge gap between him and Atiku in vote margins.

The Final Calculation: Can Atiku Be Defeated At Home?

Atiku Abubakar may not see the light of victory in Adamawa in 2027 with the likes of Abba Girei in the APC. The plan is clear: ensure Atiku loses his state of origin to Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the ADC, thereby puncturing the narrative of invincibility at home.

If Abba Girei succeeds in delivering the 226 wards structure and maintaining polling unit dominance, Adamawa will move from being an ancestral fortress for Atiku to a battleground state where Tinubu can secure a landslide through local sagacity backed by federal might.

In Adamawa’s fluid politics, Abba Girei has emerged as the man determined to dispel home advantage with grassroots advantage.

2027 Elections: Sa-Gbagyi Endorses Tinubu, Uba Sani, Shehu Sani, Vows Massive Votes

The Paramount Ruler of Gbagyi ,Chiefdom, Sa-Gbagyi, HRH Ishaku Yari (Esu Chikun II), has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Shehu Sani for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Yari said the people of Gbagyi Chiefdom and other ethnic nationalities in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State would be mobilised to vote for the three leaders in recognition of what he described as their contributions to the development and welfare of their communities.

The traditional ruler announced the endorsement when Senator Shehu Sani paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.

He expressed satisfaction with the policies of the Tinubu administration and the leadership style of Governor Uba Sani, describing the forthcoming elections as an opportunity for the people to reciprocate the leaders’ contributions to their communities.

The monarch declared his readiness to mobilise the Gbagyi people and other ethnic groups in Chikun to support the re-election bids of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates at all levels.

He said he would encourage his subjects to participate actively in the electoral process, while urging traditional leaders across the various communities to communicate the message of support to their people.

“I am not afraid to come out and tell my people to come en masse to vote for All Progressives Congress candidates, from the President and Governor to senators and other candidates,” Yari said.

He added that traditional rulers across the various communities had a responsibility to engage their subjects and ensure they were adequately informed about the forthcoming elections.

Speaking on Senator Shehu Sani, Yari recalled what he described as the senator’s longstanding commitment to defending the interests of residents of Chikun Local Government Area, particularly during periods of heightened insecurity and disputes over land ownership.

The monarch also recalled the controversy surrounding alleged threats to demolish Gbagyi Villa during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, noting that Shehu Sani had consistently spoken out on issues affecting the Gbagyi people and other vulnerable communities.

He commended the senator for his interventions on security challenges in Northern Nigeria, saying he had used his position in the National Assembly to draw attention to the worsening security situation and the plight of affected communities.

Yari further highlighted the senator’s reported contributions to healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of a hospital, describing such interventions as important to improving access to medical services for residents.

The traditional ruler also praised Shehu Sani for challenging alleged land-grabbing practices and defending residents’ rights during disputes over land and property.

According to him, these interventions had strengthened the senator’s relationship with communities in Chikun and informed the decision to support his return to the Senate.

Despite endorsing the three political leaders, Yari appealed to the relevant authorities to reconsider the cases of teachers who were dismissed from service and facilitate their reinstatement.

He said addressing the concerns of the affected teachers would demonstrate the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and help strengthen public confidence in its policies.

The appeal highlights the continuing concerns over the welfare of affected workers as political parties and their supporters begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Issues relating to security, education, healthcare, land rights and economic welfare are expected to remain important considerations for voters in Kaduna State as the election approaches.

The endorsement by the Sa-Gbagyi signals support for Tinubu, Uba Sani and Shehu Sani among the communities he represents.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the monarch’s appeal for the reinstatement of dismissed teachers also underscores the importance of addressing local grievances alongside political mobilisation.
